Recycle your old tins into something beautiful

We all use tin cans for one thing or another and just throw them straight in the bin when we are finished without given them a second thought! Well I’m here to change that for you guys. Especially now that we are coming into the warm Summer months and you have a good reason to sit out on your balcony or out in your garden 😉 So here’s a few nice ideas for you to try out your artistic side on, of course you can play around with the ideas and come up with your own styles and patterns etc… <3

A tin can lantern: Get yourself a marker and put dots on the tin where you want to pierce holes, create your own design or start small by dotting the shape of a heart with your maker. Next, grab a sharp object like a nail and a hammer and start perforating holes where you put your dots with your maker to guide you. When you’re finished, you can pierce a hole at the top of the tin on either side and put some wire through it like a coat hanger to create a handle, then pop a candle inside the tin and you’re done. If you like it you can repeat it again with other cans and do different shapes and designs, then pretty soon you will have enough to lay them in a line along the ground, hang them off of trees or peg them up on your washing line or make your own smaller line out of string. This is such a pretty little idea! It’s so satisfying to look at them and know that you created them all on your own without buying them 😉

Pretty little plant/herb pots: Something for the children to get involved in as well, making your very own little herb pots. This is very easily done, firstly go and buy yourself some bronze spray-paint and then plant your basil, cilantro and oregano (or whatever you choose yourself) for your kitchen counter in your new beautiful bronze tin cans. Add little wood signs painted with black paint where you can label your tins with white chalk so you don’t get confused with your herbs.

Bronze make up tin can <3: With your left over spay paint from your last D.I.Y experiment, simply take a large tin (if possible) and just spray it bronze then leave it to dry and then label it whatever you want.. easy!!

Super cute little candle holders: Take your little small tin cans, remove the label or be lazy if you like and just wrap some pretty paper around your little can to make it look however you want. Get some pegs and paint them either the same or if you want a different colour to your tin it’s completely up to you. Get some twine or string in a colour of your choice and a nice chunky wooden hanger and I think the picture is self explanatory. Have fun! 😀

Charming flower vases: These are one of my favourite I think. They’re just so beautiful ,so pretty and so so easy to create. Get yourself some white or cream spray paint or just even regular paint, some twine, some ribbon and if you have any old broken jewellery or little gems around, that’s it!! Paint your tin, leave to dry, wrap with your ribbon and twine and stick the jewellery on and you’re done <3 <3 All you need to do is pick or buy yourself some pretty flowers to fill your reformed tin!!
