The MTV Movie Awards were on recently and I think it was pretty obvious (well to me at least) that Star Wars: The Force Awakens aka Star Wars Episode VII was favourite to win the coveted “Movie of the year award” at the prestigious ceremony. Well, that’s exactly what happened, the seventh instalment in the space opera series took home the night’s top prize. Franchise star / Breakthrough Performance winner, Daisy Ridley and director J.J. Abrams were more than willing to accept the Golden Popcorn on behalf of the cast and crew during the Saturday night award ceremony. The duo, made quite the entrance as they walked through a reconstructed recreation of the First Order’s Starkiller Base amid an audience holding hundreds of lightsabers.
Abrams had this to say; “I gotta say, it was an incredible honour to be part of the Star Wars saga,” while holding his golden popcorn proudly. Daisy Ridley also talked to Josh Horowitz exclusively about Rey’s parents, ‘darker’ Episode VIII, and whether or not she’s really a Jedi.
